Here is what one of the employment candidates had to say about the service he has received during lockdown.

  • “I receive calls from Grampian Autistic Society’s employment service every Thursday afternoon. It’s good to have someone to check up on me and keep me abreast of any job opportunities I might’ve missed myself. Plus, this all keeps me in the loop so when I do go back to face to face appointments, my sense of routine remains unchanged and ticking along nicely. Without it, going back might’ve been a shock to the system.” By Andrew Watson

Maintaining routine and structure can provide reassurance for many individuals on the spectrum which in turn can help lower stress and anxiety levels. The surreal times we find ourselves in just now due to COVID-19, everyone is experiencing more uncertainty and unpredictability which can be extremely difficult for someone with an ASC to manage, so the more structure and routine, one can provide for themselves will help balance out the parts they cant predict.
