Our Board members come with a range of professional backgrounds relevant to the work of the Society. In addition, we always operate with a majority having a family member who is on the Autism Spectrum.
The Board usually meets on a Monday evening every two or three months, and has an annual training event. Additional strategy review meetings are arranged from time to time.
The Board currently has threecommittees which meet as required (usually at least once between each Board meeting) and report to the Board. They are:-
- Staff & Services – dealing with recruitment, training, staff appraisal, remuneration, service development and associated issues.
- Finance & Governance – dealing with financial performance, financial records and reporting, internal review and governance issues.
- Marketing & Fundraising – dealing with raising awareness of the Society and fundraising that the Society undertakes to supplement funding received from the local authorities.
Each director serves on at least one of these committees.
We plan to tell you more about our Board members and the work they do over the next few months – watch this space.
We can appoint individuals to the Board who have specific skills. In addition, anyone who is a member of GAS is eligible to be elected to the Board.
We are always happy to have new ideas and new people involved – please contact us if you might be interested in helping, or have any comments or questions regarding Board issues.
